VISITOR CENTRE TEAM 2025
Summer front of house roles at North Uist Distillery
- Location: Nunton Steadings Visitor Centre, Benbecula
- Between April – Sept or depending on availability such as student holidays
- Part-time and full-time or weekend/event work.
- Hourly rate dependent on experience.
- Full training will be provided.
- Must be over 18.
- Closing date 12pm Friday 7th March 2025.
Are you friendly, warm and welcoming? Do you love chatting to customers and enjoy working in a busy and bustling environment as part of a small team?
We’re looking for two new team members who are confident providing excellent front of house customer service. You will be based in the Downpour Shop and Island Life Bar where you will serve customers in the shop, and assist with tastings and events throughout the visitor centre. There may also be options to attend local and mainland events.
Are you a people person? You will need to work well within our small visitor centre team and be willing to help out in all aspects of the role from cleaning to restocking, from pouring drinks to educating customers about our brand and products.
Full training will be provided and you will have the opportunity to learn the processes behind making Downpour Gin and whisky and then go on to share this knowledge with our customers.
The visitor centre opening hours are 10-5pm, days of work are flexible but must include some Saturdays and weekends.
You will report to our Visitor Centre Manager.
Duties include:
- Effectively sharing and communicating our gin and whisky products, brand and story.
- Day to day running of the shop and bar including stocking, cleaning and sales.
- Selling Downpour products and branded merchandise.
- Preparing and serving drinks in our Island Life Bar.
- General cleaning of the visitor centre always ensuring a high level of cleanliness.
- Leading group tastings and tours.
- Working at events in the visitor centre.
- Attending occasional local and mainland events.
- Being a positive ambassador for the islands, community and local produce.
Essential skills, experience and qualifications:
- A keen interest in North Uist Distillery.
- A desire to learn about our products and story.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent customer service.
- A desire to deliver a positive customer experience.
- Professional and approachable.
- Excellent time keeping and time management.
Desirable but not essential:
- Previous Experience working in the drinks industry or hospitality sector.
- Full driving license.
- Gaelic speaker.
- Comfortable with speaking to groups of people.
